Rachel Somers Miles explains why Sound & Vision joined the EPIC-WE project to showcase their Dutch broadcasting archives. Through cultural game jams, youth creatively engaged with historical materials, addressing challenges like climate change, mental health, and democracy. The initiative connects cultural heritage with gaming innovation, empowering young people's imagination and world-making abilities while exploring complex issues through a nuanced, multi-perspective approach.

Rachel Somers Miles works at the Netherlands Institute for Sound & Vision where she leads and develops projects that critically explore the creation and use of audiovisual materials in both the past and present. The project she works on often use the collections to explore social/political issues, creative/design practices, or the intersection of these. Rachel holds master’s degrees in both critical cultural and media studies, and sound and moving image curation and preservation.
