Abstract

Micaela shares the process of the Game Jams in the Obidos Hub, and the impact that they have in creating new connections between cultural heritage and games, inclusion and youth partecipation.

Speaker bio

Micaela Fonseca holds a PhD in Physics and is Vice-Director of the HEI-Lab R&D Unit at Lusófona University, Portugal. She is a Principal Researcher and Professor working at the intersection of games, immersive media, psychology, and social impact. She has extensive experience using game jams as formats for co-creation, inclusion, and social responsibility, notably through Games for Good, the largest game jam in Portugal dedicated to social impact, and Games for Good Júnior. She is also Editor of the International Journal of Games and Social Impact. Her current research explores virtual worlds, immersive education, participatory media, and accessibility in creative digital environments.
