The Cultural Game Jam Kit: Capacity Building translates the Cultural Game Jam format into a structured yet flexible approach to developing skills, practices, and shared understanding across sectors. Centred on the four phases, Experience, Play, Imagine, and Create, it guides participants through a hands-on, collaborative process in which cultural heritage and game-making become vehicles for learning and experimentation.
Through formats such as immersive experiences, secret missions, and collaborative challenges, the kit fosters a playful environment where participants develop competencies in ideation, prototyping, cultural interpretation, and value-sensitive design. Rather than focusing solely on final outputs, the emphasis is on capacity as something that emerges through participation, reflection, and co-creation. Learning is embedded in the process of working together across different perspectives and disciplines.
The kit operationalises the Quadruple Helix Cultural Hub model by enabling participants from cultural heritage institutions, higher education, creative industries, and youth sectors to collaborate directly. It supports the activation of local hubs and the development of shared practices that can transfer across contexts. In this way, it helps build stronger connections between hubs and supports the growth of a wider, interconnected cultural ecosystem.
